My name is Linda Carteri. I have been teaching for 10 years and I am currently working towards my Masters in Structured Reading & Reading Science through the University of Alberta. I have been tutoring for over 10 years and have two children of my own who have unique learning needs as well! I absolutely LOVE working with children and watching them grow and soar as learners as I support them in the building of their skill sets.

My practice is focused on supporting students in literacy - as this is something I am extremely passionate about. Did you know 60% of students struggle with literacy in some way or another? And those who receive early intervention (before grade 3) are MUCH more likely to be proficient readers before they reach grade 5 than those who do not. If your child is already in a grade higher than 3 - don’t stress. Any literacy intervention for a student who is struggling shows a significant impact in their abilities as a reader and writer in comparison to those who only receive support at the school level (or don’t receive support at all).

My goal is to give your child the tools that they need to be a confident learner as they explore literacy and acquire the necessary skills to carry them through life as a strong reader and writer. My practice is based on research and years of experience working with diverse learners in my classroom each year. I utilize Orton Gillingham resources, decodable texts, interactive learning games and multi-sensory games and tools to make sure that your child is able to learn in a multitude of ways - and that the skills that they learn will stick.
